Assessing the Life Expectancies of Koreans 1986 - 89

Abstract
|
|
|
Several life table functions were assessed in terms of statistical inference. Major findings from the Korean life expectancies during 1986-89 are summarized as follows:
1) Probabilities of dying at birth(q_0)in 1986 and 1989 are 0.01356 ans 0.01106 for males and 0.01345 and 0.01058 for females, respectively.
2) The expectations of life at birth in 1986 and 1989 are 65.0 and 66.9 years for males and 73.7 and 75.2 years for females. There seems to be an interplay between new medical technology and socio-economic status in recent prolonged life expectancies of Koreans.
3) The highest life expectancies at birth by district are 70.7 years for males in Seoul and 79.7 years for females in Jeju.
